What this website stores
Cookies and storage
Version 2026-08-14 · effective 14 August 2026
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and to send back on your next visit. Some websites also use your browser’s own storage, which works in much the same way except that it stays on your device and is never sent to us. Both are covered here.
Some of these are needed for the site to work at all — they keep you signed in, they remember the privacy choices you have already made, and they protect the site against abuse. Anything that is not strictly necessary is only stored if you agree to it, and nothing on this site is used for advertising or to follow you between websites.
Our website measurement — counting how many people look at each page, and which site they came from — sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. That is why it appears nowhere in the tables below and why there is nothing here for you to clear, and you can switch it off whenever you like: select “Privacy choices” at the foot of any page to reopen your choices.
You can change your mind at any time: select “Privacy choices” at the foot of any page, and the privacy banner opens again with the answers you gave, ready to be changed.
You can also delete everything listed below through your browser’s own settings; if you do, the banner will ask you again on your next visit, because the record of your answer is one of the things you will have deleted.
How we handle personal data more generally is set out in our privacy notice.
Essential
Strictly necessary — Keeps you signed in, remembers your consent choices, and protects the service against abuse. The site cannot work without these.
Strictly necessary, so there is no switch for these: turning them off would mean turning off the website.
better-auth.session_token
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- Identifies your signed-in session. Without it you would be signed out on every page load.
- How long it lasts
- Until sign-out or session expiry
better-auth.state / better-auth.pkce (and similar)
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- Short-lived values that protect the Google sign-in redirect against interception and cross-site request forgery.Only present on some visits — it is written only when the feature it belongs to is in use.
- How long it lasts
- A few minutes, deleted once sign-in completes
ws_consent
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- Remembers your privacy choices so you are not asked on every page. Contains only your answers, the policy version they were given against, and a random identifier that is not linked to any profile. Sent with SameSite=Lax and, on an https deployment, Secure; deliberately readable by scripts on this site so the page can honour your choices before any tracker could load.
- How long it lasts
- Configured by PRIVACY_CONFIG.consentCookieMaxAgeDays
maintenance_access
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- Set when you enter the access password while the site is closed for maintenance, so you are not asked again on every page.Only present on some visits — it is written only when the feature it belongs to is in use.
- How long it lasts
- 12 hours
atg_form_dwell
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- A short-lived anti-spam value issued when you open a page on this site, so the enquiry form can tell a person filling it in from a script posting to it without ever loading the page. It holds the time it was issued, a random value and a signature — nothing about you, no identifier that is linked to any profile, and nothing that follows you to another site.
- How long it lasts
- 6 hours
Interface preferences
Functional — Remembers choices you make in the interface, such as light or dark theme and whether the sidebar is collapsed.
There is no switch for these because they only store a choice you made yourself, by using the control. Changing the setting changes what is stored.
sidebar_state
- Kind
- Cookie
- What it does
- Remembers whether you collapsed the application sidebar, so the page renders the same way on the server and avoids a visible jump.
- How long it lasts
- 7 days
theme
- Kind
- Browser storage
- What it does
- Remembers whether you chose the light, dark or system colour scheme.
- How long it lasts
- Until you clear your browser storage
notice_dismissed
- Kind
- Browser storage
- What it does
- Remembers which site announcement you have already closed, so the same one is not shown again on every page. It holds the identifier of that announcement and nothing else — no account, no visit history, and nothing that identifies you. Publishing a new announcement changes the identifier, so a new one is still shown.
- How long it lasts
- Until you clear your browser storage
Keeping this list right
This page is generated from the register the website itself uses, rather than written alongside it, so an item added to the site appears here without anybody remembering to update a page. If you find something stored by this site that is not described above, please tell us — the routes to us are in the privacy notice.
