MOT

We arrange your MOT, with the test itself carried out off-site at a DVSA-approved test station, and we carry out the repairs a failure calls for at our own workshop.

Sound familiar? Your MOT is due shortly, or has already run out.

How your MOT works with us

  1. We arrange the date

And tell you where the vehicle needs to be.

  2. Tested at a DVSA-approved station

    Off-site, on the date arranged.

  3. The result, talked through

Advisories included — what matters now, what can wait.

  4. Repairs in our workshop

Agreed with you first, then the re-test arranged.

Signs you might notice

If any of these describes your vehicle, this is the page for it.

  • Your MOT is due shortly, or has already run out.

  • A reminder has arrived and you would rather not organise the test yourself.

  • Your vehicle has failed its test and the listed work needs carrying out.

What the work covers

  • Arranging the test on your behalf — it is carried out off-site at a DVSA-approved test station, not on our premises.
  • Carrying out the repairs a failure calls for, including welding.
  • Advisory items explained, so you know what needs attention now and what can wait.
  • Servicing arranged alongside it where one is due, so the vehicle is only off the road once.

How it works

  1. You tell us when your MOT is due and we arrange a date for the test.

  2. We tell you at that point what the arrangement means on the day — where the vehicle needs to be, and when.

  3. The test is carried out off-site at a DVSA-approved test station on the date arranged.

  4. We go through the result with you, including the advisories, so you know what needs attention now and what can wait.

  5. If anything fails, we explain what is needed, agree the work with you, and arrange the re-test.

Why choose AutoTech Garage?

What you can hold us to on this job.

  • We agree the work with you first

We explain what we have found and what putting it right involves, and nothing beyond what you have agreed is carried out without a telephone call first.

  • One independent workshop in Bournemouth

Routine servicing and major mechanical work are both done here, by the same garage, so you are not passed on when a job turns out to be a large one.

Common questions

  • Do you carry out the MOT test here?
No. We arrange the MOT for you and the test itself is carried out off-site at a DVSA-approved test station. The repairs that follow a failure are done at our workshop.
  • What does it cost to have you arrange the MOT?
We publish no figure for it, and the off-site arrangement is exactly why. The test fee belongs to the test station rather than to us, so a single headline number on a web page would blur two different things into one and would be wrong for somebody. Ask when you arrange the date and we will tell you what you will be paying and to whom. Nothing is carried out until you have been told what it will come to and have agreed to it. That holds for the repairs a failure lists as much as for the test.
  • What do I need to bring, and what happens on the day?
The test needs the vehicle and its keys. You do not need the V5C for the test itself — bring it only if you have recently bought the car and the registration details have not caught up. Because the test happens off-site, we tell you when we arrange the date exactly where the vehicle needs to be and when. Afterwards we go through the result with you, and if it has failed, nothing is put right until we have talked you through what the sheet actually says.
  • Can you do the repairs if my vehicle fails?
Yes. Most failure items — brakes, suspension, lights, exhaust and structural welding — are work we carry out ourselves. We explain what is needed and agree it with you first.
  • Can I have the vehicle serviced at the same time?
Yes, and it usually means the vehicle is only off the road once. Tell us when you book and we will plan the two together.
